I never gave much thought to daily routines as a kid, but the older I get, the more I not only crave them—I know they’re essential to my well-being. Sure, there are days when I sleep in, eat leftover pizza for breakfast, and somehow need a nap by noon. But most days, I stick to a routine because it makes me feel better—physically, mentally, and emotionally. When I nourish my body, move my energy, and start the day with intention, I’m more productive, balanced, and just happier. Stick around as I share the wellness routine that keeps me grounded and thriving.
Mindful Moments
This part of my morning is more than just a thought—it’s about what I choose to do (or not do) the second I wake up.
Ignoring My Dog (Sort Of) – First off, my mini, needy Frenchie has zero chill. The moment he senses movement or eye contact, he’s ready to leap out of bed. But before we start the day, I take a few minutes to myself while he happily curls back up next to me.
Breathwork & Visualization – Some call it meditation; I call it a sanity saver. I breathe in for four counts, hold for four, and exhale for four while visualizing love, happiness, and prosperity. It’s a small practice with big effects, and science backs it up.
Prayer & Gratitude – These go hand in hand for me and are non-negotiable. I start by thanking God for another day—the chance to breathe, live, and love. I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me in doing His will and moving through the day with love, just as Jesus did.
Journaling (Sometimes) – I don’t do this every morning, but when I do, I write down prayers, gratitude, and my to-do list. It helps me stay focused and grounded.
Hydration, Coffee & Herbal Magic
Hydration First – Drinking enough water is non-negotiable. I could write a whole article on it, but for now, just know I make it a priority. Some mornings, I go for warm lemon water, but lately, I’ve been starting my day with Bloom Greens & Superfoods mixed into my first glass of water—chugged down with my probiotics. It tastes amazing and helps with bloat, digestion, and energy. I also love to add my daily Adaptogens and Brain Boost Tincture to my water for the day. Oh, and don’t forget the Vitamin C.
Bone Broth Before Caffeine – I don’t do caffeine on an empty stomach—it messes with my stomach and gives me anxiety. No deep science here, just personal experience. Instead, I sip on Bare Bones Beef Bone Broth first, which hydrates me and gives my body some protein before I move into the next part of my routine: movement.
Coffee & Caffeine Choices – Most days, I reach for coffee (because, let’s be real, the aroma, taste, and that first sip are unmatched). But I also love green tea, matcha, and yerba maté, which never give me a crash like coffee sometimes does. When I do go for coffee, I’m all about a good espresso with oat milk and honey—but that’s a post for another day.
Movement & Flow
Stretching First – Stretching isn’t optional—it’s a necessity, like taking a multivitamin. Our bodies need it, and I make sure to stretch, at the very least, before any physical activity.
Beach Walks with My Dog – No matter where I live, daily walks are a must—especially by the beach. There’s something about grounding my feet in the sand, feeling the salt water, and breathing in the ocean air that resets my mind and body. Plus, my high-energy Frenchie is way more behaved after a good seaside stroll.
Running for Life – My dad encouraged me to start running before I was 10—not as just another extracurricular activity, but as a lifelong habit. He told me I could take it anywhere, and he was right. No matter where I travel, my running shoes come with me. When I have to take a break (thanks to sickness or life getting in the way), I feel off. Runner’s high is real, and I need it to keep me going.
Nourishing Breakfast: My Favorite Way to Fuel Up
Oatmeal, eggs, or a smoothie? It all depends on my mood, but each one fuels my body in the best way.
Oatmeal – A hearty, digestion-friendly option that feels like a warm hug on cooler mornings. I load mine up with butter, flax, chia seeds, walnuts, oat milk, and a touch of brown sugar—comforting, nutrient-dense, and delicious.
Eggs – I listen to my body, and when I crave eggs, I eat them. It’s usually a sign I need more protein (or just love the taste). I enjoy them scrambled with veggies, fried with sourdough toast, or hard-boiled for something quick and easy.
Smoothie (My Go-To) – The easiest way to pack in extra vitamins, herbs, and protein. Lately, I’ve been blending:
- Coconut water (for extra hydration and electrolights)
- 1 scoop of grass-fed beef protein powder
- Half a banana
- A spoonful of peanut butter or sunflower butter
- 1 date
- A cup of ice
This is how I start my day, and honestly, it’s no wonder it sometimes takes me a few hours before I even sit down at my computer. But without it? I feel scattered, unfocused, and just off. My morning routine isn’t just about habits—it’s about setting the tone for the day ahead. It keeps me grounded, energized, and in a mindset of health, positivity, and love—and that’s always worth the time.
